Tying into Capsule's mission statement to reimagine radical design for today, "Dreamscapes" invites artists and designers to explore technology through the surreal potential of dreams. Held in former industrial district Seongsu-dong, the exhibition brought together local and international talent. It featured workshops from Carsten Höller's restaurant Brutalisten; Furniture by Kwangho Lee, Nice Workshop and Théophile Blandet; Digital artworks by Ezra Miller; Sculptures by Audrey Large; listening sessions by Eugene Whang; and talks including celebrated Korean artist Koo Jeong A.

Flicking through Dutch artist Thomas Trum's inspiration folder made him a natural curation to bring to life the dynamism of a road trip through the lavender fields of Provence. Pairing his colourful palette with videos of tyre marks, crop circles, plane trails Trum brought to life a series titled 'Southern Spins'. Executed across a ship's sails, the tiles of a swimming pool and canvases en plein air – the work was also showcased at Villa Noailles for the Design Parade. A launch party hosted in Trum's outdoor atelier featured local rising star singer Johan Papaconstantino and a talk with designer Sabine Marcelis, a fan of the artist.

An itinerant art installation where nature is the canvas

At the world's largest creative technology festival, Amsterdam Berlin built an immersive space celebrating collaborations. Built as a giant X, the installation invited artists, engineers and designers to present the result of cross-disciplinary partnerships. A music programme curated by specialist publication, The Fader, invited talent from various musical horizons to come together and jointly re-interpret their art.

A showcase of cross-disciplinary collaborations

While Salone del Mobile is renowned for it's showcase of everyday design objects, artist collective Numen/For Use's large-scale installation "Lines of Flight" offered a place to dream beyond the day-to-day of design week. At Milan's Palazzo Clerici visitors were invited to climb inside a monochrome, symmetrical textile sculpture, bringing the iconic Pepita Fabric to life. The installation celebrated Vitra's unveiling of three renowned chairs in this fabric. The designs were premiered through a dance performance choreographed by Imre & Marne van Opstal, focusing on the geometry and rhythm found in the pattern.
